Lesson: Co-Creating with AI Using Discussion Mode

When building complex web applications, you don’t always want the AI to immediately execute your commands. Sometimes, you need a creative partner to bounce ideas off of, evaluate design trends, or plan a workflow before altering your layout. In this lesson, we will explore Discussion Mode—a powerful tool that pauses the active build engine so you can brainstorm UI/UX solutions collaboratively with Noca AI.

The Build vs. Brainstorm Shift

By default, Noca AI runs in Build Mode, meaning every message you send acts as a direct command to rewrite or modify code. Shifting into Discussion Mode turns the platform into a strategic UI/UX consulting partner that analyzes your app and suggests ideas instead of immediately shifting your interface around.

Step 1: Locate the Discussion Mode Toggle

  1. Open your current multi-step wizard web app inside the Noca workspace.

  2. Direct your attention to the chat command bar at the bottom left of your screen.

  3. Look right next to the model selection dropdown to locate the Discussion Mode toggle icon (represented by a conversation bubble icon).

Step 2: Activate the Collaborative Workspace

  1. Click the toggle icon to activate Discussion Mode.

  2. Notice how the chat placeholder text dynamically transitions from “What would you like Noca to build?” to “What would you like to discuss?”

  3. (Optional) Toggle it off and on once more to familiarize yourself with shifting between active building and abstract brainstorming states.

Step 3: Prompt a Design Strategy Question

Instead of asking for a structural change, ask for conceptual inspiration tailored to your application:

  1. Type a broad or design-focused question into the chat, such as:

    “I want to make my app pop. Make it a bit more interesting. What are some ideas?”

  2. Click Send.

Step 4: Evaluate the AI’s UX Plan

  1. Watch the chat window fill with an actionable, highly contextual UI/UX roadmap rather than triggering a canvas layout refresh.

  2. Review the tailored suggestions. In this instance, Noca AI will generate an optimized layout plan focusing on:

    • Micro-interactions: Adding active hover feedback elements.

    • Glassmorphism: Implementing frosted, semi-transparent styling to specific form containers.

    • Card Animations: Smoothing transition sequences as users click through insurance steps.

    • Immersive Layout Adjustments: Enhancing deep spatial contrasts across background grids.

Step 5: Convert the Discussion into Code

Once you find a conceptual framework or plan that you love, you don’t have to retype the instructions to build it.

  1. Scroll to the bottom of the AI’s text response in the chat panel.

  2. Click the Implement Plan button.

  3. Watch as Noca AI automatically feeds its own brainstorm parameters back into the construction engine, dynamically applying the micro-interactions, layout aesthetics, and styles directly onto your preview screen.
